Location:

Salary: • ₹60,000 per month for all benches except New Delhi. • ₹80,000 per month for the New Delhi Bench.

About the organization
The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) is a quasi-judicial body established under Section 408 of the Companies Act, 2013. It adjudicates matters relating to company law, corporate restructuring, and insolvency proceedings under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. The Tribunal functions under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, and has multiple benches across the country.

About the post/opportunity
The NCLT invites applications from eligible Indian nationals for engagement as Law Research Associates (LRAs) on a purely contractual basis across all its benches in India. The purpose of this recruitment is to prepare a panel/waiting list of candidates for appointment as vacancies arise in the future.

Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Amravati (Andhra Pradesh), Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cuttack, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi.

Roles & Responsibilities
• Assist the Hon’ble President and Members of the NCLT in legal research, case analysis, and judgment preparation.
• Conduct research on matters of company law, insolvency, and allied laws using databases such as SCC Online, Manupatra, LexisNexis, Westlaw, etc.
• Prepare case briefs, chronologies, and legal summaries of matters listed before the Bench.
• Verify citations and assist in drafting and editing orders and judgments.
• Maintain and organize case files, legal documents, and records.
• Assist in preparation of academic papers, speeches, and conferences.
• Attend court proceedings, take notes on arguments, and conduct research on citations.
• Perform any other duties or legal tasks assigned by the Hon’ble President/Member.

Eligibility
Educational Qualification:

  • Graduate in Law (3-year or 5-year integrated degree) with at least 50% marks from a recognized university/institution established by law in India and recognized by the Bar Council of India.
  • Candidates who have completed all law examinations within the duration of the course are eligible.
  • Candidates who have obtained their law degree or LLM not earlier than two years prior to the date of advertisement (i.e., not before 2023) are eligible to apply.
  • Final-year law students (5th year of 5-year course or 3rd year of 3-year course) may also apply, subject to furnishing proof of qualification before joining.

Desirable Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Strong analytical ability and familiarity with electronic legal databases (eSCR, SCC Online, Manupatra, LexisNexis, Westlaw, etc.).
  • Sound knowledge of Company Law and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC).
  • Computer proficiency and familiarity with MS Office and online legal tools.

Age:

  • Candidate must not be above 30 years of age as on 22 October 2025.

Disqualifications:

  • Engaged elsewhere on honorarium or employment basis.
  • Involvement in any criminal case or disciplinary proceedings before Bar Councils or other authorities.

Salary / Perks
Remuneration:

  • ₹60,000 per month for all benches except New Delhi.
  • ₹80,000 per month for the New Delhi Bench.
    • No Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), residential accommodation, or any other benefits will be provided.
    • The engagement is purely contractual and does not confer any right to regular appointment.

Period of Engagement
• The contract will initially be for one year, extendable based on performance and requirement, subject to the approval of the Hon’ble President/Member concerned.
• The maximum engagement period shall not exceed three years in total.
• Selected candidates will be required to give an undertaking to serve for at least three years, if continued.
• Either party may terminate the contract with due notice.

Selection Process
• Selection will be through Written Examination and Interview.
• The interview will test knowledge of Companies Act, 2013, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, and other allied corporate laws.
• Candidates will also be evaluated for their legal research ability, analytical skills, and general awareness.
• In case of large applications, shortlisting will be done based on qualification and experience.
• No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the interview.
