ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India is a statutory public body constituted in 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights Act. Headquartered in New Delhi, its mandate is to protect and promote human rights, including life, liberty, equality, and the dignity of individuals, as guaranteed by the Constitution and international treaties.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an empanelment for Young Professionals to serve as Junior Research Consultants purely on a contractual basis. The role is designed for individuals with a strong aptitude for research and practical experience in human rights, enabling them to assist the Commission with its research-oriented mandates and specialized human rights projects.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Research & Analysis: Conducting sound research on human rights issues and drafting reports or policy briefs.

• Project Support: Assisting the Commission in dealing with complaints and practical human rights field issues.

• Communication: Preparing developmental communications and working with Social Science/Law data to support the Commission’s functions.

ELIGIBILITY

• Educational Qualification: *Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) or a Post Graduate degree in Social Sciences (e.g., Political Science, Sociology, International Relations, Social Work, Human Rights, or Developmental Communications).

Requirement: Minimum of 60% marks from a recognized University.

• Experience: Practical experience in dealing with human rights issues and sound knowledge of research methodology.

• Selection: In the case of a large number of applications, preference is given to those with higher qualifications or superior academic percentages.

SALARY/PERKS

• Remuneration: Monthly consolidated remuneration is governed by the NHRC guidelines for Young Professionals (Consultants).

• Nature: Purely contractual; the engagement does not confer any right to regular employment in the Commission.
