The International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) is the statutory unified regulator for financial products, financial services and financial institutions in India’s IFSCs, established under the IFSCA Act, 2019. Based at GIFT City, Gandhinagar, the Authority regulates banking, capital markets, insurance, fund management, fintech and allied financial activities within the IFSC ecosystem.

About the Post / Opportunity

IFSCA invites applications from highly qualified legal professionals for engagement as Consultant Grade 2 (Legal) on a contractual basis. The role involves high-level legal drafting, policy work, regulatory analysis and support in the formulation of financial sector legislation within the IFSC framework.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Drafting, vetting and rendering legal opinions on matters related to financial services markets.
• Conducting legal research, comparative analysis and preparing analytical briefs.
• Scrutiny of files involving legal and policy questions and assisting in drafting submissions.
• Drafting/assisting in drafting bills, regulations, notifications, MoUs and other legal instruments.
• Performing any additional duties as assigned by the Authority.

Eligibility

Minimum Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law (3-year or 5-year) with first class, from a University/Institution recognised by the Bar Council of India for enrolment as an Advocate.
• Desirable: Master’s Degree in Law.

Minimum Experience

• 8 years of post-qualification experience in legal practice or legal work relating to financial sector laws, securities, banking, SEZ/IFSC or regulatory frameworks.

Preferred Skillsets

• Knowledge of regulatory framework for financial markets, IFSC and SEZ laws.
• Demonstrated experience drafting regulations, circulars, legal opinions, and statutory instruments.
• Ability to conduct comparative legal research (domestic and international).
• Experience in global/domestic financial sector entities or dispute resolution forums.
• At least one legal research publication in a reputed journal (preferable).

Salary / Perks

• ₹1,45,000 – ₹2,65,000 per month (consolidated), depending on qualifications and experience.

Tenure

• Engagement up to 3 years, extendable up to 5 years, based on performance, with an upper age limit of 65 years.
