Recruitment of Senior Legal Consultant & Legal Consultant – National Commission for Women (NCW)
Location:
Salary: ₹60,000 - ₹80,000 per month
Experience: 2 years PQE for Legal Consultant and 6 years PQE for Senior Legal Consultant
Eligibility: Degree in Law from a recognised University (LLM Desirable)
About the Organisation
National Commission for Women (NCW) is a statutory body constituted under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.
The Commission works towards safeguarding the rights of women and advises the Government on policy, legislative, and implementation matters concerning women.
About the Post / Opportunity
Applications are invited from qualified and experienced legal professionals for engagement as Senior Legal Consultant and Legal Consultant at NCW on a contractual basis.
The engagement is initially for one year, extendable or curtail-able depending on the requirements of the Commission.

Roles and Responsibilities
● Conducting legal research and drafting for law reviews, thematic studies, and reports mandated under Section 10(1)(d)
● Researching legal and policy issues, preparing concept notes, talking points, policy papers, and consultation reports
● Evaluating and revising reports submitted by partner institutions and experts to align with NCW objectives
● Coordinating with universities, legal experts, and NGOs across regions for consultations and documentation
● Monitoring and managing court cases involving NCW before the Supreme Court, High Courts, and other judicial fora
● Drafting affidavits, counter-affidavits, rejoinders, briefs, and other legal pleadings
● Liaising with Government Counsels, Law Officers, and external advocates and attending court hearings
● Vetting and drafting MoUs, contracts, and legal agreements entered into by the Commission
● Providing legal opinions on policy, administrative, and regulatory matters
● Assisting in replies to Parliamentary Committees, UN Women, and inter-ministerial references
● Supporting legal awareness and capacity-building programmes, including training on women’s laws and gender sensitisation

Educational Qualification
● Degree in Law from a recognised University
● LL.M. desirable
Experience
● Minimum 6 years’ experience, either:
– Working in the Legal Section of a Government Department / Autonomous Body / PSU in a supervisory capacity; or
– Practice at the Bar with experience in drafting pleadings and court work; or
– A cumulative combination of government legal work and litigation practice

Educational Qualification
● Degree in Law from a recognised University
● LL.M. desirable
Experience
● Minimum 2 years’ experience, either:
– Working in the Legal Section of a Government Department / Autonomous Body / PSU; or
– Practice at the Bar with experience in drafting pleadings and court work; or
– A cumulative combination of government legal work and litigation practice
Common Requirements
● Good English communication and drafting skills
● Working knowledge of computer applications (MS Office, PPT, etc.)
● Understanding of government functioning, noting, drafting, and e-office systems
Salary / Perks
● Senior Legal Consultant: ₹80,000 per month (consolidated)
● Legal Consultant: ₹60,000 per month (consolidated)
● Engagement is contractual; no additional allowances or service benefits
