Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) function under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, and are responsible for recruitment to various posts in Zonal Railways and Production Units of Indian Railways through centralized selection processes.

About the Post / Opportunity

Applications are invited from eligible Indian nationals for legal posts under the Isolated Categories through Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 08/2025. The recruitment is conducted through a Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by Document Verification and Medical Examination, as applicable.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Chief Law Assistant

  • Handling legal matters relating to service, establishment, contracts, and disciplinary proceedings

  • Assisting in drafting, vetting, and interpretation of legal documents, rules, and regulations

  • Supporting litigation and court-related matters on behalf of Railways

  • Advising administrative authorities on legal and statutory compliance

• Public Prosecutor

  • Conducting prosecution on behalf of the Railways before competent courts

  • Handling criminal cases arising out of Railway operations

  • Assisting investigating agencies and advising Railway authorities on prosecution matters

  • Representing Railways in judicial proceedings as assigned

Eligibility

Educational Qualification

• Chief Law Assistant

  • Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognised University/Institution

• Public Prosecutor

  • Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognised University/Institution

  • Must be eligible to practise as an Advocate (enrolment with a State Bar Council required)

*Experience - Chief Law Assistant needs 3 years of practice (or specific Railway service experience), while Public Prosecutor requires 5 full years of advocacy experience.

Salary / Perks

● Pay Level: Level 7 (7th CPC)
● Initial Pay: ₹44,900/- per month
● Additional allowances as admissible under Railway rules
