The Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks (CGPDTM) functions under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. The office administers India’s intellectual property regime relating to Trade Marks, Geographical Indications, Patents, and Designs.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Examination of Trade Mark and Geographical Indication applications
- Discharge of statutory quasi-judicial functions under IP legislations
- Consideration of objections, replies, and legal submissions
- Passing reasoned orders under the supervision of the Registrar
- Performance of incidental legal and administrative duties as assigned
Eligibility
Educational Qualification
- Degree in Law from a recognised university
Experience
- Two years’ experience in:
- Handling court cases and other legal matters OR
- Handling matters relating to Trade Marks and Geographical Indications
Desirable Qualification
- Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property Law
