1. About the Organisation
The Competition Commission of India (CCI), established under the Competition Act, 2002, is the country’s premier competition regulator tasked with promoting fair market practices and preventing anti-competitive conduct. With its headquarters in New Delhi and offices in major metros, the Commission undertakes complex legal, economic and regulatory work central to India’s competition regime.
2. About the Post / Opportunity
CCI has invited applications for the engagement of Young Professionals (Law) on a contractual basis. The engagement is initially for one (01) year, with the possibility of extension depending on requirements and performance. The Young Professionals will be placed in Grade-I, with postings available at Delhi, Mumbai or Chennai. A total of nine positions (09) have been notified in the Law discipline.
3. Roles and Responsibilities (Law)
Young Professionals in the Law stream will assist the Commission in its statutory functions under the Competition Act, 2002. The work includes legal research, drafting, case analysis, reviewing submissions, and assisting in inquiries before the Commission. They may also be assigned tasks involving regulatory work, scrutiny of mergers and combinations, policy support, documentation and other matters requiring legal expertise.
4. Eligibility
Applicants must hold a Degree in Law (LLB or equivalent) from a recognised university, with the qualification recognised by the Bar Council of India. They must also be eligible for enrolment as an advocate under the Advocates Act, 1961.
5. Experience
CCI accepts a wide range of legal experience for this role, including:
(Any one of the following)
• Work in judicial or legal settings such as the Supreme Court, High Courts, tribunals, regulatory authorities or similar forums
• Academic experience as a Professor, Reader or Lecturer specialising in Competition Law
• Corporate legal experience involving mergers, acquisitions, competition compliance or regulatory matters
Candidates with specialisation in Competition Law, Regulatory Law, IPR, Trade Law, Corporate or Financial Law are preferred. Experience will determine the grade and responsibilities assigned.
6. Compensation / Salary
Young Professionals (Grade-I) receive a consolidated remuneration of ₹60,000 per month, with a 10% annual increase upon completion of each year of engagement. The position does not carry additional allowances unless specified by the Commission.

8. Selection Process
Candidates will be shortlisted based on their qualifications, experience and supporting documents. Shortlisted applicants may be called for an interview. Final selection will depend on the overall performance, including academic background and interview assessment. The Commission retains full discretion over the engagement.
