IIT Kharagpur invites online applications from Indian nationals for the post of Law Officer. This is a regular staff recruitment aimed at strengthening the Institute’s legal operations, particularly in the domain of legal advisory and intellectual property rights (IPR) management.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support to the Institute’s administrative and academic units
• Draft, review, and vet legal documents, contracts, MoUs, and agreements
• Handle legal matters including litigation, compliance, and regulatory issues
• Manage and monitor IPR claims and submissions
• Liaise with external legal counsel and represent the Institute in legal proceedings when required

 

Eligibility

• Educational Qualification:
– Degree in Law from a recognized University/Institute of repute

• Experience:
– Minimum 3 years of practical experience in legal work, with specific exposure to IPR claim submission and monitoring

• Age Limit:
– Preferably up to 35 years as on the closing date of application (October 21, 2025)
– Age relaxation applicable as per Government of India norms

• Additional Criteria:
– Experience certificate must be issued on official letterhead, specifying duration, salary, and authority details
– Candidates from Government/Semi-Government/Autonomous Bodies must submit NOC and Vigilance Clearance
– Degree must be awarded by a recognized University/Institute
